Calingiri Primary School students operate a sophisticated weather station in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia providing data and forecasts for the region. We are the only weather station linked to the Bureau of Meteorology for miles around, the closest one being at Bindoon 60km away which only measures temperature, and the next closest one being over 100km away, only measuring temperature and wind speed. The weather station at Calingiri Primary School measures Temperature, Wind Speed, Rainfall, Rain Storms, Rain Rate, Dew Points, Barometric Pressure, Humidity, Wind Chill, Wind Direction, Heat Index, Soil Moisture, Soil Temperature, Leaf Wetness, Solar Radiation, UV Index, and many other areas of the weather. We believe that Calingiri Primary School provides an accurate account of the weather for the school and the wider community, while also providing valuable learning experiences for our students. Being a farming community, local weather information is invaluable for crops, stock, and livelihood of our residents. Local residents can also sign up for email alerts for weather warnings in the region.
